Dr. Michael J. Weaver, a board-certified general surgeon and long-time divisional director of General Surgery at Roger Williams Medical Center, has joined the medical staff of the Westerly Hospital.  He will be associated with the Westerly Medical Center, Inc. at 46 Wells Street in Westerly.

Dr. Weaver completed his internship and residency at Tufts-New England Medical Center in Boston, Massachusetts where he was the Chief Resident of General Surgery. He received his medical degree from Ohio State University College of Medicine in Columbus, Ohio.  He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and is currently an Associate Professor in Surgery at Boston University’s School of Medicine.

He is trained in most laparoscope procedures as well as vascular access for dialysis.

Before joining The Westerly Hospital, Dr. Weaver was the Chief of Surgery at Rogers Williams Medical Center as well as a member of the medical staff for the University Medical Group, Miriam Hospital, Our Lady of Fatima Hospital, Rhode Island Hospital, Women and Infants, Pawtucket Memorial, and Kent Hospital.

Dr. Weaver is an avid boater, and loves bird watching and beachcombing.  Said Dr. Weaver, “I am very excited to come to Westerly and look forward to providing excellent and compassionate care to our community.”
